I lost my beloved dog

Post by Dazzler on Fri Jul 16, 2010 10:31 pm

I am a dog person and I love my dog so much. But I lost her a week ago and I am still hurting. She was never treated as a pet but a member of the family. She got sick so fast and then just lost energy to fight. When I saw her already gone, it was so painful and I still feel very sad about her death. I cannot believe she's gone when she is just 3 years old and still very young Sad. I know that she is in a better place now and resting in peace and not suffering but the thought of accepting her death is still not there. There are days when I wish I will see her when I get up or hear her bark when I come home. Losing her feels like losing another member of the family and I think it will take awhile before the hurt goes away

You'll be alright bro, you just need to get your mind off it. Go out to eat, go to a concert, whatever you can do to get your mind off it.

At first, all lost is very painful. Perhaps you should think again how much have you done for her, and not what you could of done?

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. I really appreciate it. I actually am now thinking of the good memories I had with her. For now I pretend that my aunt borrowed her for a long time so I don't feel too hurt of not seeing her anymore. It made me feel a lot better actually. I am not great with goodbyes because I tend to hold on too much to my emotions, but I am slowly learning to let go of things that I have no control of.

i have lost many animals, not just dogs, but other ones as well. i know what you're going through right now. pets do really feel like family, and i for one would give anything to have my dog back.

if you need to talk you know where i am, okay?

Oh my that is so sad. I was very frustrated when my dog dies and I only had her for 3 years. Having your dog for a very long time is really going to hurt you badly when you lose them. We had a few dogs before and I get sad when they died but this time it's my very own first dog so I was pretty emotional. I still miss her a lot especially when I come home and she greets me with a loud bark. Sometimes I still act like she's alive and call her name and pretend she doesn't hear me Sad

Thanks cymbalta, I really appreciate it Smile. My dog was really like an extension of myself. I treated her like my twin. I would bring her food whenever I dine out. I buy her treats that I think will really make her happy, and I hug her all the time. So not being able to do what you have been doing for a long time feels weird and sad

yes, as i said in my previous post, it can be. the worst part for me, and this may sound weird, is not being able to hear my dog playing with the gate in the kitchen. it seems little, but it made me feel that there was someone there.

Yeah that really is sad. I am a dog person myself and I'll be sad if I lost my dog too. Reading this post though made me realize that life is too short so I need to make sure that I spend as much time with my dog

you are right, life is too short, and tomorrow is not promised to any one of us.

make the most of it, and treat every day as it wil be the last time you can interact with your dog.

Definitely! Take it from me. I didn't see it coming. I was expecting to still have her when I have my own family and she won't be anymore. Every time I see my neighbor's dogs (which were her playmates) I get sad and envy them a lot that their dog is still alive and mine is already gone Sad

awww.

Sad

unfortunately, things happen sometimes, and as much as we'd like to, we can't do anything about it.

but you can feel comfort that the dog is looking down on you.

loads of positive energy coming your way

hugs

Thanks cym! I appreciate that Smile. Yeah I do feel that she's still around. It's just sad because I know there is nothing like her and I would like to find another dog just like her

my advice for that is, don't start looking for 1 until you're ready.

grieving is a long process, and you shouldn't rush it all. you shouldn't feel weak or stupid about it, because it's natural, and it hurts. you can take my word on that.

for now, you just take it easy, and when you feel you can move forward, go find a new dog.

Yeah I think so too because I always compare other dogs to her and if they aren't as close, I get irritated and disappointed. I am still hurt and I still miss her. Thanks for the advice cym Very Happy
